Centrifugal Blower

A centrifugal blower is a mechanical device for moving air or other gases. It uses the Kinetic Energy of the impellors to increase the volume of the air stream, which in turn moves them against the resistance caused by ducts, dampers and other components. It displace air radially, changing the direction (typically by 90°) of the airflow.

Construction of Centrifugal Blower

Main parts of a centrifugal fan are:

  1. Fan housing: - Casing is constructed in GI (or SS) to increase the life against rusting. Sides of fans are Pittsburgh locked with Pittsburgh lock formers. Scroll of the casing is ribbed for extra strength.

  2. Impellers: - Impellers manufactured are dynamically balanced with extensive precision to enhance the performance in terms of efficiency & noise levels.

  3. Supporting Frames: - To provide the rigidity & stability to fan side frames are manufactured from Angle Section with welding. Surface is finished with either of enamel paint, epoxy paint or powder coating.

  4. Shafts: - Shafts are manufactured from EN-8 carbon steel which are machined & grinded to allowable tolerances. Keyways are cut as per standards.

  5. Bearings: - Bearing used in Fan Air Fans are deep groove or spherical roller type of international standard which have eccentric locking collars. These bearing are self-aligned and pre- lubricated and are maintenance free.

Characteristic of Centrifugal Blower

  • They are sturdy, quiet, reliable, and capable of operating over a wide range of conditions.

  • It can handle large volumes of air at low pressure.

  • They are often cheaper than axial fans and simpler in construction.

Application of Centrifugal Blower

  • Centrifugal fans are by far the most prevalent type of fan used in the HVAC industry today.

  • They are used in transporting gas or materials and in ventilation system for buildings.

  • They are also well-suited for industrial processes and air pollution control systems.

Type of Centrifugal Blower

  1. 1. DIDW Blower: - Double Inlet Double Width (DIDW) as the name suggests has two inlet and one outlet. These blower can discharge more air than SISW fans with same blower dia. We can manufacture the blade in forward as well as backward direction

  1. 3. Plug Fans:- Direct-Drive Plenum Fans. A housed fan contains a scroll, or housing, that directs the air leaving the fan in one direction. A plenum fan consists of a centrifugal fan wheel without the surrounding housing. The fan wheel pressurizes the surrounding plenum, allowing air to discharge in multiple directions.
